I had the pleasure of interviewing and conducting a photo shoot with the glamorous Event Planner Susan Smallwood of Baltimore, MD.  Susan is preparing this week for her event to benefit the non-profit "We Will Survive Cancer" at a private Jet Hangar in Glen Burnie,MD.

During a cool, fall Sunday afternoon in Northwest , Washington  DC.,  I learned more about what drives Susan and her passion for helping those around her.  In today's society, it is not typical to find a person willing to selflessly sacrifice their time and talent to help others.  Susan sadly watched her dear friend   and brave soul, Joyce Davis, pass away  from breast cancer in 2010.  "Joyce was a beautiful person, inside and out, and she was so brave with her fight against Breast Cancer,” reminisces Susan.  She never witnessed Joyce shed one tear for herself, and she remained brave at all times.  Even though this amazing beautiful woman was falling apart on the inside due to Cancer, she remained so strong on the outside.   Her father also left this world from Non Hodgkins Lymphoma in 2001.  His Cancer resulted from exposure to Agent Orange during the Vietnam War.  Susan has experienced and knows what cancer can cause to those loved ones around her.  

Susan and I talked about her passion for events and this Jet Hangar event taking place this Friday, October 30, 2015.  The goal of the event is to aid families affected by Cancer, and she refers to it as “Partying for a Purpose.”  Proceeds from this luxury event will go directly to families this holiday season that could not otherwise afford gifts as a result of their cancer treatments and medical bills.
